KATHMANDU, Feb 26: The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) is tightening regulations on SIM card and recharge card sales for outbound travelers in response to the rising complaints of irregularities.

For over a decade, Nepal has allowed companies to sell SIM cards to travelers before they leave the country. More than a dozen companies have obtained approval to import and distribute these SIM cards. However, unauthorized sales without the required "No Objection" approval have increased, prompting the regulator to act.
