The deal came into effect from 30th December, 2014 for a year. This is the fifth year in a row that NT has sponsored men's team while second year in row for women's team.
As per the deal, NT will provide total amount of Rs 2.2 million to NPC teams including Rs 1.6 million to men's and Rs 600,000 to women's team. The amount of sponsorship is equal to that of last year's contract. In return, the teams of NPC will wear jerseys with NTC logo in any domestic or international tournament it plays. The NTC could also use NPC players for its marketing and promotional campaigns.
IGP of Nepal Police Upendra Kanta Aryal who is also the President of Central Sports Committee of Police and NT General Manager Buddhi Prasad Acharya signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. NT General Manager Acharya also handed over jersey and football to IGP Aryal during the same program.
Speaking at the signing ceremony IGP Aryal promised that the amount received from sponsorship deal will be spend for the development of game and facilities to players. "The sponsorship has encouraged us to do even better in the game and the amount will be spent on betterment of players," he said adding that the deal would help to strengthen the relations between Police and NT.
Likewise, Acharya, the general manager of NT, said that the sponsorship deal was part of the corporate social responsibility of the telecom operator. "We believed that the sponsorship will motivate players of the teams and show their talents in various platforms," Acharya said.
NT has also been sponsoring senior men's and women's cricket teams.
