Inaugurating the newly set up office of the Rana-led NOC at Sitapaila, Kathmandu, on Thursday Chaudhary claimed that financial irregularities were rife in Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan-led NOC. [break]
“We should respect the Supreme Court verdict. I cannot take decisions on my whims. It´s our duty to respect the verdict,” said Chaudhary, adding, “I believe, International Olympic Council (IOC) and Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) are against government interference and lack of transparency. The Rana-led NOC should make IOC and OCA aware of all things that could help it get international recognition,” said Chaudhary.
Chaudhary said that nobody can disobey the law of the land just putting forward the slogans of Olympic Charter or Olympic Movement.
Kishor Bahadur Singh, Vice-president of Rana-led committee, said that their committee will coordinate with the NSC in future and claimed they have completed forty percent of work in getting the Rana led-NOC get recognition of IOC and OCA. “We have already sent the required documents and we are corresponding with OCA and IOC. We believe we will soon get recognition,” said Singh.
He claimed that the Pradhan-led committee is misguiding the country with false information about OCA recognition. “An OCA staff Heider Forman has given his personal opinion during the Asian Games and they are claiming it as the official view of OCA,” claimed Singh.
Speaking at the function, Vice-presidents of the committee Indra Bahadur Sherchan and SK Singh claimed that the Rana-led committee is the only NOC in the country following the Supreme Court verdict on October 4.
The court had given its verdict on October 4 to scrap former Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam´s decision to authorize the Pradhan-led committee to run NOC´s bank account.
