NSC member-secretary Yuvaraj Lama informed media on Tuesday that representatives from both the Nepal Swimming Association agreed to sort out differences after the newly formed NSC board facilitated talks between them.[break]
“We have formed a taskforce to present a roadmap for merger and that includes three representatives each from both the bodies as well as a representative of NSC. The taskforce will make all the technical adjustment within three days and one NSA body will be announced officially,” said Lama.
According to Lama, the taskforce includes Geeta Rana, Ashok Bajracharya and Rabi Singh from the NSA recognized by NOC and Samim Miya Ansari, Jagat Man Shrestha and Ranjan Bhattarai from the NSA recognized by NSC.
Lama said that after forming one NSA body, the ban imposed on swimmers Shaila Rana and Shailesh Rana will automatically be lifted. They were banned by NSA recognized by NSC for participating in FINA World Championship through the NSA recognized by NOC.
Meanwhile, Lama also claimed that two Nepal Kabaddi Associations (NKA), one recognized by NSC and another recognized by NOC, will soon form one NKA body. “I´ve talked to both presidents and I´m sure there will be one NKA body in a few days,” said Lama.
Lama said that NSC will take initiatives to solve the problems that the existence of two NOCs has created. “We respect the verdict of the Supreme Court, which resurrects NOC led by Rukma Samsher Rana but it is the NOC led by Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan that has international recognition. We´ll look for practical solution and then for a legal solution,” said Lama.
