KATHMANDU, June 4: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari has said the central bank will endorse a flexible monetary policy for the next fiscal year, keeping the interest of the private sector in priority.
Speaking at a program on Monday, the NRB Governor Adhikari said the monetary policy will incorporate measures to the problems seen in various sectors of the economy. Adhikari hinted that the central bank will revise both the policy rates and bank rate for this purpose.
He was positive about the policies taken by the annual budget regarding the growth of the agriculture sector. “I am confident that the economic growth of six percent and inflation target of 5.5 percent for the next fiscal year will be achievable,” said Adhikari, urging the bankers to take cautious measures to provide loans when NRB adopts expansionary monetary policy.
