KATHMANDU, Dec 11: Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, the president of internationally recognized Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) on Saturday said that the committee does not require affiliations from any local bodies.

Pradhan made such comment during the closing ceremony of the Olympic Solidarity ITTF PTT Level-I course in table tennis in the capital. [break]

The long going dispute owing to the existence of two Olympic Committees, one recognized nationally and other internationally, cooled down about a month ago after National Sports Council (NCS), the apex sports body of nation, finally agreed to recognize the Pradhan-led committee.

"Media reports frequently claim that NOC should get recognition from the NSC and government. But we don´t need recognition from anywhere. The committee which is recognized by International Olympic Committee is the one that is official." Pradhan said.

Pradhan´s statement comes at a time when NSC, the apex sports body of the nation, has taken initiatives to solve the NOC dispute which has cost Nepali players the opportunities to compete in international tournaments.

Meanwhile, the week long ITTF PTT Level-I coaching participated by 27 players concluded in the capital on Saturday.

The course was organized by All Nepal Table Tennis Association, with funds from internationally recognized NOC, and conducted by Jordan´s Mohammad Atom, an expert with International Table Tennis Federation.
