KATHMANDU, Oct 25: The government has made it clear that it has not stopped the survey of hydropower projects and issuance of permission for power generation. Stating that serious discussions are underway to provide quality electricity service and increase electricity consumption, the government has clarified that no decision has been taken regarding the permission of the project.
Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi clarified that no decision has been taken to stop the permission to survey the hydropower project. He said, "No decision has been taken to stop the permit and no such policy has been formulated."

Similarly, Secretary at Ministry of Energy, Devendra Karki said that it was wrong to inappropriately publicize unnecessary information when serious discussions are being held with the Secretary, Joint Secretary and Nepal Electricity Authority on consumption of hydropower energy.
The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has given the power production survey permission of the Arun-4 Commission to the Nepal Electricity Authority for two years. As per the prevailing act, rules and directives, permission has been given to the promoters who have duly received the application details.
