POKHARA, April 15: Opposition parties have registered a no-confidence motion against the chief minister of Gandaki Province, Prithvi Subba Gurung.
A total of 28 lawmakers belonging to the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center) and Janta Samajbadi Party (JSP) filed the motion against CM Gurung, said Ramji Baral, deputy parliamentary party leader of the Maoist Center. Rastriya Janamorcha is also said to have extended its support to the motion, according to Bindu Kumar Thapa, an NC lawmaker. “The number doesn’t include Janamorcha. They have, however, given their word to back the motion,” he added. The Janamorcha has a total of three members in the assembly.

NC’s parliamentary party leader in the province, Krishna Chandra Nepali (Pokharel) has been proposed as the new chief minister of the province.
The parties are preparing to call on Governor Amik Sherchan to ask the latter to summon the special session as the winter session of the provincial assembly was prorogued effective from Wednesday midnight.
