Speaking to reporters in Itahari on Tuesday, Ram Sharan Mahat of the Nepali Congress said president´s pressure on parties to reach early consensus was not enough and there was no alternative for him but to wrest power.[break]
"The president must take steps if the political parties do not reach consensus by mid-October deadline,” said Mahat. “The president should not delay in taking steps at a time when the country does not have a parliament or a fully functional government.”
The ruling parties including UCPN (Maoist) along with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai have been critical of suggestions that Yadav should be active. They argue that Yadav´s role is ceremonial and he has no authority to go beyond that
