NMSP CC to finalize election manifesto

KATHMANDU, Sept 17: A two-day central committee meeting of the Sharat Singh Bhandari-led National Madhes Socialist Party (NMSP) began from Tuesday to thrash out the party´s strategy for election.



According to party leaders, the meeting will finalize the party´s manifesto for the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election and the possibility of electoral alliance with other parties. They said the party would form a team to assess the strength and weakness of the party in all the constituencies. [break]



Speaking to Republica, central committee (CC) member of the party Krishna Pokharel said that the two-day central committee meeting will finalize the contents of election manifesto. “We have intensified negotiations on forging electoral adjustment with like-minded Madhesi parties,” said Pokharel, adding that “conservation of Chure Range” will be the main agenda of the party for the upcoming election.



Asserting that the Dalit and Muslims were the most neglected communities in Tarai, Pokharel said, “We have proposed forming a permanent Hajj Committee in our election manifesto. We have also proposed free education for all till grade 12.”



He also said that the party would strongly stand against the dowry system.

“We also demand bulk recruitment of Madhesi youths in the Nepal Army,” said Pokharel, adding that their election manifesto also envisions developing Tarai towns into major financial hubs,” Pokharel said.
