Nine murder-accused held in past one week in Rupandehi

BHAIRAHAWA, Oct 10: Nine people were arrested for their alleged involvement in murder and abduction cases over the last one week in Rupandehi district.

One of those arrested is Man Bahadur Tharu of Tilottama-7, Kanchhi Bazaar. Police arrested him on last Wednesday at Kanchhi Bazaar during his visit to his family on Dashain festival. Tharu had shot down 26-year-old Rudal Yadav in 20 years ago.

Similarly, Police have also arrested a youth who was on the run after murdering his mother during Dashin festival. The arrested is 17-year-old Sanjaya Gupta of Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality-3.

According to police, Gupta killed his mother Kokila Kahar, 36, by striking her with a wooden stool on the day of Tika.

Gupta asked his mother for money to stake in gambling. When she refused his demand, he hit her in a fit of rage. She died immediately.  

 Police have also arrested and made public 20-year-old Anamol Khateb of Saptari Bhagatpur-7, the murder-accused of Mahesh Yadav, a rickshaw puller.

Khateb had strangled Yadav to death using a plastic rope before dumping him under the Danda Bridge.
