BUTWAL, Sept 18: The Social Development Committee of the Provincial Assembly of Province 5, has sought details of the procurement of medicines and health equipment from the Health Directorate under the Ministry of Social Development of the province after complaints were filed accusing the Directorate officials of irregularities while purchasing the items.

BUTWAL, Sept 7: Pyuthan District Hospital received the permission to have 50 beds three years ago. However, the congested and dilapidated building of the hospital does not have more than 25 beds. Though it has a quota for eight doctors, the hospital is dependent on just three doctors for long now. The absence of pediatrician, gynecologist, orthopedic surgeon and general surgeon, among the health experts of the other sectors fall hard on service seekers. The hospital does not have even an accountant which has affected the purchase of drugs and necessary equipment.
BUTWAL, Aug 26: Police arrested Krishna Gurung of Pokhara from Nawalpur for smuggling drugs last Friday. Gurung, a local of Lekhnath Municipality, used to smuggle drugs from Indian towns near Rupandehi border to Pokhara and other cities.
