KATHMANDU, April 27: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the government to immediately take initiative to implement the six-point agreement reached with the Tharuhat Joint Struggle Committee (TJSC) last month. Stating that the general strike called by the Committee in the Tarai had seriously affected local life in the region, the Commission has expressed concern over deteriorating human rights situation in the Tarai districts. In a press statement issued on Monday, the NHRC said the NHRC teams monitoring the situation in the Tarai districs including Chitwan, Bara, Parsa, Nawalparasi, Rupandehi and Bardia have found that the local life had been seriously affected by the strike in those districts.
