KATHMANDU, May 4: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) member Mihir Thakur has accused the government of appointing a person accused of human rights violation as the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Talking to media persons at the commission’s office on Wednesday, NHRC Member Thakur said that the newly-appointed IGP Dhiraj Pratap Singh faces accusations of violating human rights.
Thakur said that the government has misused state power by appointing a human rights violator to the post of IGP of Nepal Police. He also said that the commission was investigating the case of Inspector General Singh. He also called on all stakeholders to conduct further investigation into IGP Singh.
