Newar community celebrating Yomari Punhi and Jyapu Day (Photo Feature)

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: People from the Newar community are celebrating Yomari Punhi and Jyapu Day at Basantapur, Kathmandu on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

The full moon day of December is celebrated as the Yomari Punhi by the Newars of the Kathmandu Valley which is also called Dhanya Purnima or the harvest full moon day.

Yomari which is translated as a favorite bread item is not only a comfort food but is also nutritious which helps to keep one warm. So, it’s an apt food for winter.
