New Zealand bags a consolation win

KATHMANDU, March 14: New Zealand got the better of India as it thrashed India to forge an eight wicket win in the fifth ODI Played at Eden Park, Auckland. India could not play out its allotted 43 overs as it was bundled out for 149 in 36.3 overs. [break]



According to cricinfo.com, Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 43 but soon ran out of partners. Virender Sehwag (40) and Yuvraj Singh (11) were the other two players who got to double figures after India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni opted to bat at Eden Park. For New Zealand, Jesse Ryder was the most successful bowler with three for 29 while Ian O´Brien and Jacob Oram picked up two wickets each. The match was reduced to 43 overs per side due to rain.



New Zealand chased down the target in 23.2 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Ryder top scored with 63 of 49 balls.



The victory was just a consolation for the Kiwis as India has already wrapped up the series winning 3 out of the 5 matches of the series.
