KATHMANDU, Nov 5: A spirited performance from Aasif Sheikh gave Nepal U-19 a consolation win by six wickets in the third and final practice match of the Bangladesh tour at BKSP ground, Savar. Aasif Sheikh scored 90 runs opening the batting for Nepal facing 88 deliveries including nine fours and three sixes chasing a target of 226 runs set by Bangladesh U-19.
Aasif was supported by new opener Jitendra Singh's patient 45 runs with a strike rate of 42. Rohit Paudel also chipped in with a quick cameo of 25 runs that included three fours. Skipper Dipendra remained not out on 27 runs to take Nepal home in 47th over.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat. Animul Islam registered well-compiled innings of 80 runs from 87 deliveries supported by Mohammad Rakib's 39 to take Bangladesh's total to 225 in 50 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Left-arm spinner Shahab Alam picked up three wickets supported by Anil Kumar Sah's two.
Bangladesh won the three-match practice series 2-1. Both teams are set to participate in the upcoming Youth Asia Cup to be held in Malaysia from November 9 to 20.
