After presenting the Letter of Credentials from the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, McGoldrick, who is also the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), assumed his office on Tuesday itself.[break]
“I feel privileged to be taking up this assignment in Nepal. I am looking forward to, together with the UN Country Team, working closely with the Government of Nepal for the people of Nepal,” a press statement issued by UNDP, Kathmandu, quoted McGoldrick as saying.
Immediately prior to coming to Nepal Mr. Jamie McGoldrick was the Resident Coordinator in Georgia. Before this, Mr McGoldrick worked at the UN office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva, Switzerland.
He has served as Chief of Humanitarian Coordination Support Section (2009) and as Chief of OCHA´s Humanitarian Reform Support Unit (2006-2008).
