KATHMANDU, July 23: Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has argued that the dream to build new Nepal would not materialize unless the issues of the farmers and laborer class are addressed.
Inaugurating a two-day workshop organized by the World Federation of Trade Union here today, VP Pun said that although the employment was incorporated in the new constitution as a fundamental right, its implementation part was still facing problems.
Stating that the common problems of the labor class were job security, low wage, untimely payment and lack of health insurance, Pun ranted that the laborers were still living in exploitation, deprivation and oppression.
Similarly, CPN (Unified) Chairman Ganesh Shah spoke of the need for all the labors to strive for their rights. He was of the opinion that the labor movement had grown weak following the dissolution of the USSR.
The event will see four working paper presentation on various local and global issues such as issues facing laborer by global imperialism, impact of neo liberal economic policies on laborers and among others, according to Union's central member Pramel Kumar Khanal.
