The meeting also decided that the existing regulation regarding issuance of relief funds from the state coffers would strictly be followed. The existing provision allows such funds not exceeding Rs 25, 000 to a recipient. Past governments have distributed such funds in millions of rupees, mostly to their cadres and supporters.

According to Ghimire, the meeting also instructed all ministries to submit their periodic progress reports to the prime minister’s office. Chief Justice Regmi, former chief secretary Ghimire and former law secretary Hari Prasad Neupane, who has been given law and labor portfolios, make the three-member cabinet for now.
