With the latest increase, the NEPSE index closed at 714.72 points, while the Sensitive stock market recorded a gain of 13.44 points on Monday.
The NEPSE--a quick barometer to gauge the status of investors´ confidence--has been showing a positive trend after the formation of the UML-led government, which is widely expected to opt for a liberal economic policy that would keep the private sector in the driver´s seat.
Among the major seven sub-groups of NEPSE, the Banking group, which commands the lion´s share of NEPSE´s transactions, recorded a whopping increase of 19.64 points, to get to 731.78 points. The strongest gains on Tuesday were made by the Hydropower group. The Insurance group, however, witnessed a slight slip of 1.19 points, to close at 640.56 points.
