KATHMANDU, May 13: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday increased by a whopping 24.39 points to close at 1,998.89 points.
The secondary market opened at 1,974.50 points and plunged to the day’s low at 1,971.16 points in the first 15 minutes of trading. The market then went to the day’s high at 2,000.42 points in the midway of the total trading hours. The index went through a series of fluctuations in the remaining period and went below 2,000 points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also inclined up a notable 5.83 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 3.40 billion from Rs 3.15 billion on Sunday.
Five groups including hotels and tourism, trading, manufacturing and processing, finance and non-life insurance were the losers of the day, while hotels and tourism posted the largest decline of 22.69 points. Of the eight gainers, life insurance added the largest of 50.44 points in its market index.
Among individual companies, 148 were recorded as gainers whereas 85 were the losers.
Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited Promoter Share had the largest turnover of Rs 308 million. Narayani Development Bank was the topmost gainer, while CYC Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 5.65 percent of its market price.
