NEPSE slips down 0.87 points; daily turnover rises to Rs 2.038 billion

KATHMANDU, Feb 28: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday slipped marginally by 0.87 points to close at 2,000.77 points. 

The market opened at 2,001.64 points and fell to the day’s low at 1,992.58 points in the first one and a half hours of trading. The market rose to the day’s high at 2,009.4 points in the last 25 minutes. The index dropped around nine points in the remaining period before the market closed for the day.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined by 0.63 points. The daily turnover increased slightly to Rs 2.038 billion from Rs 1.869 billion on Tuesday.

Six groups including manufacturing and processing, trading, ‘others’, hotels and tourism, investment and mutual funds were the gainers in the intraday trading. Of the losers, life insurance shed the highest of 51.29 points. 

Among individual companies, 71 were recorded as gainers whereas 170 were the losers.

Sonapur Minerals and Oil Limited with a total transaction of its shares worth Rs 126.96 million led the segment. Samling Power Company Limited lost 6.66 percent of its market price and was registered as the top loser while Bishal Bazar Company Limited was the topmost gainer.
