Most of the trading groups saw their sub-indices go down on the day. The sub-indices of Banking and Hotels groups tumbled by 9.84 points and 0.38 points to close at 268.38 points and 385.44 points respectively. [break]
The Development Bank and Hydropower groups also saw their sub-indices drop 2.4 points and 7.32 points to close at 278.21 and 557.31 points respectively.
Similarly, the sub-indices of Finance and Insurance groups went down by 1.16 points and 5.88 points to settle at 277.62 points and 472.34 points respectively.
However, Insurance group defied market trend, as its sub-index gained marginally by 0.09 points to close the day´s trading at 404.64 points.
Total turnover during the day was recorded at Rs 25.47 million with 100,770 units of shares changing hands through 1,428 transactions. Total market capitalization was recorded at Rs 284.7 billion.
Of the total 85 companies whose shares were traded on the day, 56 saw their share prices go down and 16 posted gains. Share prices of remaining companies remained unchanged.
