NEPSE sheds 5.60 points, daily turnover declines to Rs 4.27 billion

KATHMANDU, Dec 18: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday decreased marginally by 5.60 points to close at 2,628.26 points.

KATHMANDU, Dec 18: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday decreased marginally by 5.60 points to close at 2,628.26 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,633.87 points and rose to the day’s high at 2,656.08 points in the first 19 minutes. In the next moment, the index went into a downward graph and hit the day’s low at 2,621.9 points with seven minutes left in the trading period. The market recovered around seven points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also decreased 1.53 points. The daily turnover further declined to Rs 4.27 billion from Rs 4.34 billion on Tuesday.


While finance gained the largest of 33.86 points, trading and microfinance were recorded as other two gainers. Of the 10 losers, life insurance with a fall of 41.98 points led the segment.


Among individual companies, 81 were gainers while 149 were registered as losers. Janaki Finance Company had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 155.92 million. Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited had the biggest fall of 9.90 percent of its market price. Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Support Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha were recorded as the topmost losers of 10 percent.
