Nepse plunges 19.42 points, while daily turnover drops to Rs 1.135 billion

KATHMANDU, Sept 12: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday declined 19.42 points to close at 1,967.57 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,986.99 points and escalated to the day’s high at 1,998.54 points in the first few minutes of trading. The market then dropped to around 1,977 points and remained almost stable between 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm. The market shed a few points in the last 20 minutes before the market closed for the day.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also fell by 2.50 points. The daily turnover dropped to Rs 1.135 billion from Rs 1.518 billion on Monday. 

Except for mutual funds, the remaining 12 groups had their market value decreased. Non-life insurance lost 149.40 points, the highest among all, which was followed by hotels and tourism, and life insurance with their indices declined by 110.87 points and 108.29 points, respectively.

Among individual companies, the market values of 191 companies went down, while 33 companies posted gains in their indices.

Nepal SBI Bank Limited, with turnover of Rs 75.61 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. With a loss of 10 point percent, Three Star Hydropower Limited was posted the highest among losers. Similarly, Shuvam Power Limited added 9.99 percent to its market price.
