KATHMANDU, Dec 16: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday plunged by 51.37 points after investors lost confidence with the rumour that there will be change in the government soon.
In the intraday trading, the secondary market opened at 2,682.29 points and closed at 2,630.91 points. The index went straight fall since the beginning of trading time and hit the day’s low at 2,623.21 points when the trading time was left for 13 minutes. The market recovered around seven points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.
Nepse snaps five-week winning streak
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, decreased 6.93 points. The daily turnover fell to Rs 5.93 billion from Rs 6.14 billion on Thursday.
All the 13 groups were the losers. Life insurance shed the largest of 235.69 points, while a total of six groups lost three-digit points in their indices.
Among the individual companies, only 15 were gainers while 227 lost in their market values. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 264.59 million. Janaki Finance Company shed the largest of 9.58 percent. Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited was recorded as the highest gainer.
