NEPSE loses 14.53 points, daily turnover plummets to Rs 8.91 billion

KATHMANDU, April 28: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plummeted by 14.53 points to close at 2,647.07 points. 


The secondary market opened at 2,661.60 points and escalated to the day’s high at 2,676.06 points in the first eight minutes. The index declined around 14 points, followed by a recovery of nine points within the next one hour. The market, however, followed a downward graph and hit the day’s low at 2,645.94 points in the last 20 minutes of trading, while the market recovered only around two points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Only two groups including finance and trading gained 34 points and 19.24 points respectively in their indices. Of the 11 losers, manufacturing and processing shed 39.08 points, the largest of all.   


The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, lost 3.59 points. Daily turnover amount also fell to Rs 8.91 billion from Rs 10.87 billion on Sunday.


Among the individual companies, 78 were gainers while 167 were registered as losers. Ngadi Group Power Ltd had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 709.47 million.


Saptakoshi Development Bank lost the highest of 8.45 percent. Nepal Micro Insurance Company, who managed to add 10 percent in its market value, was recorded as the topmost gainer.
