Nepse drops 5.58 points

KATHMANDU, Aug 31: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index dropped value for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, with the benchmark index losing 5.58 points to settle at 421.16 points.



Development Bank group was the highest loser of the day as its sub-index dropped by 9.45 points to close at 412.11 points. Similarly, Banking - the dominant group in the secondary market -- and Trading groups also saw their sub-indices go down by 5.73 points and 5.14 points to close at 385.27 points and 282.08 points respectively. The sub-indices of Hydropower, Finance and Insurance groups also dropped 6.43 points, 1.1 points and 1.37 points to settle at 702.54 points, 380.99 points and 485.18 points respectively.



Total turnover was recorded at Rs 23.81 million on Tuesday with a total of 64,538 units of shares and 66 scrips changing hands through 983 transactions. Total market capitalization -- total worth of listed shares in the secondary market - stood at Rs 341.87 billion.
