NEPSE declines slightly by 5.58 points; daily turnover decreases to 3.99 billion

KATHMANDU, June 5: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday declined marginally by 5.58 points to close at 2,079.71 points.

The market opened at 2,085.30 points and reached the day’s high at 2,091.64 points in the first two minutes. However, the index fell continuously to hit the day’s low at 2,072.75 points before the last one and a half hours of trading period. The market recovered around seven points in the remaining trading hours before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also declined by 0.41 points. The daily turnover also decreased to Rs 3.99 billion from Rs 4.08 billion on Tuesday.

Adding 60.07 points, microfinance led the four gaining groups. Manufacturing and processing, finance and mutual funds were recorded among the gainers. Of the losers, life insurance plunged by the highest of 55.48 points.   

Among individual companies, 83 were recorded as gainers whereas 158 were the losers.

NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 190.37 million. Upper Lohore Khola Hydropower Company lost the highest of 5.51 percent of its market value, while Bhagawati Hydropower Development Company was the top gainer.
