NEPSE corrects with decline of 5.29 points; daily turnover over Rs 21 billion for consecutive second day

KATHMANDU, Aug 1: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday slid down 5.29 points to close at 2,755.62 points.


The market opened at 2,760.90 points and plunged to as low as 2,747.46 points in the first 15 minutes. In the next moment, the index went into an upward graph and reached the day’s high at 2,805.57 points around the mid way of the total trading hours. The index however went downward successively and reached the day’s low at 2,743.94 points in the last five minutes before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased by 3.29 points. The daily turnover declined slightly to Rs 21.71 billion from Rs 21.91 billion on Wednesday.


Six groups were the gainers, with life insurance and non-life insurance adding three-digit points of 474.72 points and 231.50 points, respectively. Of the seven losers, trading lost the highest of 133.93 points.


Among individual companies, 74 were recorded as gainers whereas only 164 were the losers.


Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 770.00 million. Peoples Hydropower Company Limited was down by the highest value of 9.13 percent of its market value. Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Ltd, Nepal Hydro Developers Ltd, Shuvam Power Limited, City Hotel Limited and Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited were listed as the biggest gainers, adding 10 percent to their market values.
