KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The folk-rock band Nepathya is set to embark on a series of musical tours across Europe this month. The band will perform concerts in the United Kingdom, Denmark, Malta, Portugal and Belgium.
The first performance of the tour is scheduled for August 9 at Wembley, London. Following that, Nepathya will perform in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, on August 23. The concert will be held at Pullen Hall, a renovated industrial-era warehouse now regularly used for rock concerts. Details of the concert can be found on the hall's official website. This will be Nepathya’s second performance in Copenhagen, having previously performed there in 2016.
After Denmark, the band will visit the northern Maltese city of Attard, where they will perform at the Malta Fair and Convention Centre on August 27.
Nepathya to perform in western Australia
Next, the band will travel to Portugal, performing at Lisbon’s Lisboa Ao Vivo venue on August 31.
The final performance of the European tour will be in Antwerp, Belgium, at AID Studios Studio Seven on September 3. This will be Nepathya’s second performance in Antwerp, having previously performed at the Arenberg Theatre in 2005.
Nepathya last toured Europe in 2016, performing in Hamburg, Germany, and Copenhagen, Denmark. Although London was not part of that tour, many Nepalis live scattered across various European cities, making it difficult to expect large audiences. Recently, however, the Nepali population—especially in Malta, Portugal, and Belgium—has grown significantly, as many have migrated there for work. Encouraged by strong audience responses and nearly sold-out shows, Nepathya is undertaking this series of concerts.
Nepathya has consistently attracted audiences from small Nepali communities to major global cities, including many Nepali students studying abroad. This European tour also highlights the growing diversity of the band’s audience. While the attendance includes scattered groups, Copenhagen is known to have a significant student population.
Kiran Krishna Shrestha from Nepathya’s management says, “From small Nepali villages to leading global cities, Nepathya’s performances have started to receive consistent love and unity from audiences. We will maintain our usual high standards of management and technical excellence, presenting all programs in Europe at high-quality venues with top-notch technical arrangements.”
The 14-member Nepathya team—including management, technical crew, and artists—is traveling to Europe for this tour. On stage, lead vocalist Amrit Gurung will be supported by Dhurba Lama on drums, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on guitar, Shanti Rayamajhi on madal, and Dinesh Raj Regmi on keyboard.
Online ticketing has been arranged for most of the concerts scheduled in Europe. Tickets can be reserved through Nepathya’s official website: www.nepathya.com.np.
