Nepathya enthralls Seoul Olympic Hall

KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Nepathya, the folk rock band, performed at the Olympic Hall of Seoul Olympic Park on Wednesday. According to the press statement released by Nepa-laya, the show was hosted by Kaski Pariwar on the occasion of Korea’s Chuseok Festival.

Chuseok is a major harvest festival celebrated in Korea when people visit their ancestral hometown. For immigrant communities, this becomes an opportunity to get together with friends. There are currently more than 40,000 Nepalis working in South Korea under the EPS work scheme.
Khom Gurung, on behalf of Kaski Pariwar, thanked all Nepali living in South Korea for their support in staging the event.

The press statement quoted Nepathya frontman Amrit Gurung as saying, “All of you working in South Korea are here as a result of unemployment back home. I understand your pain of being away from your loved ones. However, I urge you to take this as an opportunity to learn skills which can be used back home. We can only hope and urge our leaders to create employment for the youths in Nepal so that they can contribute in nation building.”

The band performed ‘Mai Mari Jaunla’, ‘Jeevan Choto Cha’, ‘Lekheko Samjhana Chetera Nafala’, ‘Siranma Photo Cha’, among others. Amrit was accompanied on stage by Dhruba Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass, Niraj Gurung on guitars and Shanti Rayamajhi on madals.

The statement added that Amrit finally concluded the two-hour marathon show by saying, “I am thankful to all our listeners living in Nepal and beyond for accepting our music with such affection. We are glad to have performed in Seoul for the fifth time as part of Nepathya’s 25 years of music celebration.”
