KATHMANDU, Nov 11 : Nepali students aspiring to study abroad will now be able to secure student loans without collateral or a guarantor. For the first time, MPower Financing, a US-based organization, has introduced an education loan facility of up to USD 100,000 (approximately Rs 13 million) for postgraduate students from Nepal.
The initiative aims to ease financial barriers for students who often struggle to meet the requirements of traditional Nepali banks that demand land or property collateral or a co-signer based in the US.
According to MPower Financing, its evaluation model is distinct from conventional systems. Instead of assessing family wealth or property, the company considers a student’s university admission, field of study, and future income potential when approving loans.
Quality education
The organization has already provided educational loans to over 20,000 students from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and various African countries, and has now extended the opportunity to Nepali students as well.
Eligible applicants can apply for loans ranging from USD 2,001 to USD 100,000, covering not only tuition fees but also living and other educational expenses. The fully digital application process offers fixed interest rates and transparent repayment plans, making financial management simpler for students and their families.
Beyond financing, MPower also provides scholarship programs, visa support, and career guidance, including assistance with proof of funds for visa applications and post-graduation job search support.
The program is particularly beneficial for students pursuing degrees in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), business, and professional studies — fields with strong global career prospects.
According to the company’s statement, MPower Financing seeks to empower Nepali students by offering opportunity, access, and confidence, making higher education abroad more achievable and inclusive.
