Nepali podcaster Dipika Shrestha who is studying Masters of International Affairs at the Marxe School of International and Public Affairs, won the LCU Fund for Women’s Education 2019 President’s Award for Excellence in Leadership amid a special function held in New York on Tuesday.

Established in 2012 to honor past LCU fund for Women’s Education board president Carol Farris, the President’s Award for Excellence in Leadership recognizes a supported scholar who demonstrates extraordinary leadership in her school and her home community.

The LCU Fund for Women’s Education awarded Dipika Shrestha for her role in helping immigrant communities through her podcast— ‘At the End of the Day’. Shrestha and her husband Anuz Thapa have been producing the podcast for past one year that focuses on career instructions and help recently arrived immigrants in the United States. The podcast is about inspiring stories of people from diverse immigrant communities where they talk about their interesting career transition process in USA.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Shrestha expressed, “Before coming to the USA, I was working for BBC Media Action as a communication professional. Ever since I have been to the USA, I have been working hard to pursue my career in the same profession. But I have been facing numbers of hurdles and sometimes I feel like giving up.” She added, “I have learned that it’s ok to fail but it’s not ok to give-up your dream, and this is what I wanted to tell all immigrants of USA. This is why we started a weekly audio video podcast.”
