Shah was taken into custody upon his arrival in Kathmandu from a Himalayan Airlines flight on Saturday. It is reported that he is accused of killing 40-year-old Dhan Bahadur Pradhan from Jhapa Shivasatakshi Municipality-3 on December 11. Pradhan had been employed in Malaysia for the past year.

According to SP Dhungel, Shah committed the crime while working in Malaysia. Following a complaint filed by the deceased Pradhan's wife, the police received information that Shah had changed his identity and returned to Nepal. Acting on this information, the authorities arrested him at the Tribhuvan International Airport.

The District Court Kathmandu has ordered five-day custody for him for further investigation. The case is being pursued with the assistance of Interpol, in coordination with the Malaysian Police and the Nepali Embassy in Malaysia.
