KATHMANDU, Oct 18: The Nepali national football team arrived home on Monday after participating in the SAFF Championship 2021 held in Maldives.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports, Maheshwar Gahatraj and officials of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) welcomed the Nepali team. National coach Abdullah Al Mutairi and player Rohit Chand were not present on the occasion.
Nepali youth football team returns home
The Nepali team, which went to Qatar on September 10 to prepare for the SAFF, reached Maldives on September 27 to play the SAFF Championship. The football team returned home after more than a month. Football supporters were also present outside the airport to welcome them home.
Nepal reached the final for the first time in the 28-year history of the SAFF Championship. Nepal had lost to India by 3-0 in Saturday night's match. Although Nepal was deprived of winning the historic title, it became the runner-up for the first time.
