KATHMANDU: Nepal registered yet another comfortable victory in the ACC U-19 Women´s Championship hammering Singapore by nine wickets in its third match at the Prem Oval in Chiang Mai, Thailand on Tuesday. [break]

Nepali bowlers bowled miserly to restrict Singapore to 71-5 in 25 overs after Singapore elected to bat first with Sita Magar, Trishna Singh and Binu Magar taking a wicket each. Singapore made a cautious start with openers V’wary Pashupathy (11 off 41) and Soh Xin Ying (5 off 48) putting on 25 in 14.5 overs.

Skipper Prianjali Jain scored an aggressive 20 off just 21 balls, laced with three fours, before being run out to try to up the tempo but that could not undo the damage that was done by the openers’ slow approach. Vritti Sethi made unbeaten 16 off 31 to prop up the total that eventually proved modest against the rampaging Nepali batswomen.

Opener Maya Rawat, who had scored unbeaten 20 against Bhutan in its second match, once again shone with the bat scoring unbeaten 25 to take Nepal home in 15.4 overs. Man-of-the-match Rawat hit two fours in her 42-ball knock while Trishna Singh remained not out on 13 off 19. Sabina Karki (9 off 34) was the only Nepali batswoman to be dismissed falling to Samantha Singham.

Nepal has now mustered three wins in as many matches and a victory against Kuwait in its fourth match at Gymkhana on Wednesday will see it through to the semifinals from Group B.
