Thailand, Singapore, Qatar, Bhutan and Iran have also been placed in Group A. Similarly Malaysia, Hong Kong, UAE, China, Kuwait and Oman are placed in Group B. [break]
Nepal will play their inaugural match on July 3 against Iran. They will take on Singapore, Qatar, Bhutan and Thailand on July 4, July 5, July 7 and July 8, respectively. Two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.
Teams finishing first, second and third will qualify for the Asian Games cricket to be held in Guangzhou next year.
Asian giants India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and hosts China have automatically been qualified for the Asian Games. Nepal are yet to qualify for any Asian Games team event.
Nepali eves last participated in the 2007 edition of ACC Women´s Cricket and in 2008 they played in the U-19 ACC Women´s Cricket. Nepal finished second while Thailand won the senior level tournament. But in the U-19 category, Nepal defeated Thailand by 83 runs in the semifinal. In the group stage, Nepal had defeated Thailand by 55 runs. Singapore, placed in the same pool with Nepal, were defeated by Nepal.
The selection of players for the qualifiers will be based their performance during the recently concluded fifth national games. The initial selection of players is said to take place on Sunday while training is set to begin in the first week of June.
