Nepali culture showcased at London fair

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: The Nepalese embassy in London took part in the London Mela 2011, held in Gunnersbury Park of Central London on September 4 with a view to promoting culture and tourism prospect back home.



Nepal’s ambassador to the UK, Dr Suresh Chandra Chalise inaugurated the Nepali stall at the fair that is considered a setting for South Asian cultural events and attracts an estimated 1,00,000 visitors every year. [break]



On the occasion, the embassy also hosted a reception for the South Asian diplomats, including high commissioners of Bangladesh and India, other high level dignitaries including the London mayor and representatives from of the Nepali community including NRNs, the embassy said in a press statement on Tuesday.



The event was coordinated by the embassy with support of the NRNs and the Nepali diaspora in London.
