NC and CPN-UML decide not to endorse Pradhan as Election Commissioner

KATHMANDU, July 29: The two major parties in the Parliament, the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML have reached the decision that they cannot endorse Krishna Mani Pradhan as the proposed Election Commissioner based on the assessment of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.

KATHMANDU, July 29: The two major parties in the Parliament, the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML have reached the decision that they cannot endorse Krishna Mani Pradhan as the proposed Election Commissioner based on the assessment of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.


The meeting scheduled for 11 AM on Monday by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee was postponed as MPs from both parties engaged in internal discussions. After separate discussions within the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML, a joint meeting was held.

A member present during the joint meeting said that the parties concluded that they would not be able to endorse Pradhan as an Election Commissioner. 


The hearing committee’s meeting has been rescheduled for 5 PM on Monday.
