PHC meeting to convene today to decide on proposed Election Commissioner

KATHMANDU, July 29: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) of the Federal Parliament is set to convene today to make a decision on the appointment of Krishna Man Pradhan as Election Commissioner. Following the conclusion of the hearing, the committee will decide whether to approve his appointment.

KATHMANDU, July 29: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) of the Federal Parliament is set to convene today to make a decision on the appointment of Krishna Man Pradhan as Election Commissioner. Following the conclusion of the hearing, the committee will decide whether to approve his appointment.



The meeting, scheduled for 11:30 this morning, comes after the Constitutional Council recommended Pradhan for the position on June 16. Then, a complaint was filed alleging that Pradhan had committed sexual abuse.

The committee has since reviewed the complaint and held discussions with both the complainant and Pradhan. On July 24, the committee adjourned after discussing the matter with Pradhan.


Meanwhile, lawmakers from major parties have been consulting with their leaders regarding Pradhan's approval.
