KATHMANDU, Sept 29: The Home Ministry has successfully rescued 118 people affected by floods, landslides, inundation, and natural disasters, using Nepali Army's helicopters on Saturday and Sunday morning.
Spokesperson and Under Secretary of the home ministry, Rishiram Tiwari, said that since Sunday morning, 40 people have been rescued from various municipalities in Kavrepalanchowk and relocated to safe places.
72 districts at risk of floods and landslides
Although the helicopters were sent there on Saturday due to bad weather, it was difficult to carry out the rescue. Currently, three helicopters of the Nepali Army are continuing rescue operations in Kavrepalanchowk. Spokesperson Tiwari stated that at the request of the home ministry, the army is continuously conducting aerial rescues for citizens at risk from disasters.
Similarly, on Saturday, 13 people were airlifted in the Kathmandu Valley, 33 in Sindhuli, and 32 in Makwanpur. Home ministry Spokesperson Tiwari stated that all resources have been mobilized to clear the highways obstructed by floods and landslides.
According to the home ministry's data, there have been 107 deaths, 64 people missing, and 73 injured due to floods, landslides, and inundation.
