Siddhartha Art Gallery is displaying the works of ten prominent Bangladeshi painters: Qayyum Chowdhury, Syed Jahangir, Mustafa Monwar, Tahera Khanam, Samarjit Roy Chowdhury, Hashem Khan, Rafiqun Nabi, Monirul Islam, Mahmudul Haque, and Shahid Kabir.
“The artists will be here till 15 September,” informed Sangeeta Thapa, Art Curator and Director of Siddhartha Art Gallery.
Secretary of Culture, Dinesh Hari Adhikari; Director of Bengal Foundation, Subir Chowdhury, along with a panel from Desh Television of Dhaka, namely, Parvez Chowdhury, Sumon Kumar Saha, and Mostaq Ahmed, were present to welcome the artists and to mark the Gallery’s anniversary celebrations.
Various themes of painting can be seen in the exhibition depicting life, highlighting certain objects, and so on.
There are 30 paintings in total, which have also been put on sale.
The price range varies from Rs 74,000 to Rs 318,200, and some pieces are open to negotiations. All paintings are acrylic on canvas.
The second part of this exhibition is a three-night art camp of the Bangladeshi artists with six Nepali artists – Batsa Gopal Vaidya, Bijay Thapa, Krishna Manandhar, Bijendra Pratap Singh, Kirti Kaushal Joshi, and Jeewan Upadhayay – and the event will be held on Nagarkot.
“We’ve been receiving good responses from the Nepali public, and we have many visitors each day, and they have shown immense curiosity,” added Thapa.
The exhibition started on September 10 and will end on September 16. It is open from 11 am to 6 pm. Entry is free.
