KATHMANDU, June 3: The Charumati Buddhist Mission Nepal is all set to represent Nepal in the Gyeongju World Traditional Wind Instrument Festival – 2017 being held in South Korea's Gyeongju City from June 9 to 11.
Musical instruments from 30 different countries will be showcased during the festival being held by South Korean province of Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongju City.
At a press conference held on Friday, Charumati Buddhist Mission Nepal's founding Chairman and monk, Tapashi Dhamma, said the aim of participating in the festival was to publicize and promote different musical instruments being played by Kathmandu Valley's Newar community since the ancient time and enhance country's pride.
Nepal's veteran instrumentalist, Prof Nucche Bahadur Dangol, senior music Guru and flute player, Dharma Munikar, and Nepali Sarangi player, Sujina Bajracharya, will be leaving for South Korea on June 6 to take part in the festival.
The instruments Nepal will be presenting at the international festival include traditional flute, Pachima, Konchakhi, Nagara, Ponga, Kantan Davdav, Sarangi, Madal, Narsinga, Karnal, Sahanai, Baya and Taha Babu among others. Nepal's traditional Ritu Dhun – a musical sound – will also be played in the festival. RSS
