Nepal to start off against Tanzania in Thailand Women’s T20 Smash

KATHMANDU, Dec 17: The closed-camp for women cricketers is set to start on December 19 in Kathmandu for the upcoming ICC Women’s Qualifier Asia 2019. The name of the players to feature during the camp has not been revealed.

The women national cricket team is set to participate in the upcoming Thailand Women’s T20 Smash 2019 which is going to be held in the host country from January 12 through 18. The marquee multinational women’s cricket event is organized by Cricket Association of Thailand.

The tournament will work as a preparation opportunity for all the teams involved in the ICC Women’s Asia Qualifier 2019 to be held in Thailand, from February 18 through 27, 2019. Apart from Nepal, China, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia, Thailand, and the UAE are participating in the qualifiers. The tournament will be played in round robin format and the winner of the tournament will get a spot in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019 and ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2020. The fixture of ICC Women’s Qualifier Asia is yet to be announced.

Likewise, teams from Bhutan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Tanzania, Thailand, SL Navy, Kuwait, and Namibia will participate in the upcoming T20 smash. Nepal will start its first match on January 12 against Tanzania at the Terdthai cricket ground. It will also play against Namibia, Indonesia, and Kuwait as the tournament progresses. The final will be played on January 18.
