KATHMANDU, May 14: Nepal will be hosting the World Fair Trade Organization Global Conference 2009 from May 17 to May 21. Around 250 international delegates from 30 countries will be participating in the conference being organized by the World Fair Trade Organization and Fair Trade Group Nepal.
The conference will cover issues like climate change, the transformative power of social business, creating sustainable business models, the current recession, and fair trade as both a coping strategy and a long-term solution, says a press release issued on Thursday.
Cooperation for trade
"A Market Place," where all producers from southern countries will exhibit their products, will be another highlight of the conference.
"The conference is expected to contribute towards the consolidation of the global Fair Trade movement and the establishment of a sustainable fair trade economy," the release states.
