KATHMANDU, Oct 12: Nepal U-15 women’s team has suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Bangladesh in the second match of the ongoing third SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship in Bhutan on Friday.
Nepal has now lost both its opening games as it lost 4-1 to India in its first match. Nepal, who aimed to get a good comeback after a big loss against India, could not get past a strong Bangladeshi defense despite playing attacking football from the start.
Shahida Akhtar and Shamsunnar scored a goal each for the first edition winner Bangladesh, while Amisha Karki got a goal back for the losing team.

Bangladesh which looked a little sluggish with its combination scored the opening goal of the game in the 12th minute through Akhtar, while Shamsunnar doubled its lead in the 25th minute from the penalty spot.
The first half ended with Bangladesh leading 2-0, but Nepal looked to get back into the game with a goal in the 64th minute through Karki. Nepal tried to get the equalizer after that creating some good chances, but could not score and lost the second straight match.
With the losses, Nepal’s chances to win the title have become slim. Nepal is pointless so far with one game left to go in the group.
Nepal will now take on the host Bhutan on Sunday.
Likewise, Bangladesh has won both its matches and has six points from two games. In the first match, it defeated the host Bhutan 2-0 to get a happy start in the tournament.
The tournament, being played in round robin league format, will see the top two teams reaching the final.
