KATHMANDU, June 4: Nepal on Thursday reported its highest single-day increase in coronavirus cases with 334 new infections, taking the total number of patients to 2634, the Ministry of Health and Population said.
At a regular press briefing, Bikash Devkota, the spokesperson for the ministry, said that Karnali Academy of Health Sciences alone reported 106 fresh cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu-based National Public Health Laboratory witnessed 93 cases of coronavirus, according to him.
One person tested positive for virus during the COVID-19 testing in Biratnagar. Narayani Hospital, Birgunj, witnessed one new case of COVID-19 while BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, recorded 18 new cases today.

Throat swab of 12 persons tested positive for virus during COVID-19 tests in Hetauda. A lab in Pokhara recorded 12 cases of coronavirus, the spokesperson said.
Seti Hospital witnessed three new cases of coronavirus while Bheri Hospital reported 42 cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours. "Dhulikhel Hospital, Kavre, reported 17 new cases of coronavirus, Rapti Academy of Health Sciences recorded 15 fresh cases today," Devkota said.
Koshi Hospital witnessed five new COVID-19 cases. Eight persons tested positive for virus during their throat swab testing conducted at Provincial Hospital, Surkhet.
Sunsari has one new case of COVID-19 while Saptari reported 13 cases of coronavirus.
Parbat recorded four new cases of COVID-19 today. Sindhuli, Rautahat and Syanja have reported one new case each. Dhanusha has six new cases of coronavirus.
12 cases were reported in Kapilvastu while Mahottari has three cases of coronavirus. Nepal government has been expanding the scope of COVID-19 test through 21 testing centers across the country keeping in mind steep rise in COVID-19 cases.
