KATHMANDU, June 17: The government reported highest single-day spike with 586 cases of coronavirus on Wednesday afternoon. 


With this, the country's COVID-19 tally has soared to 7177, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

"586 new cases of coronavirus were recorded at various health facilities labs in various parts of the country in the past 24 hours," the spokesperson told a daily media briefing on Wednesday. Of the infected, 546 persons are males and 40 are females.


The country's COVID-19 death toll climbed to 20 on Wednesday, Gautam said.  


Likewise, as of today, 1167 persons who earlier diagnosed with coronavirus have returned home after recovery from various health facilities across the country. In the past 24 hours, nine COVID-19 patients were discharged after recovery, Gautam added.
